1st Sleep Study

Vera had her first sleep study last night. It was actually called off because we didn't go for a prior doctor's visit. But thankfully, we got it back on. After she fell asleep at about 8pm, it took the dexterious technologist about 1 and a half hours to hook her up with all the sensors - 8 on her head, some on her body and legs. The strip under her nose measures her exhalation from nose and mouth. Doesn't she look like something from a sci-fi movie? The little girl slept through it all, and when she woke the next morning at 8am, they were already all removed. Again, like in the movies, you're not supposed to remember what they did to you! hahaha...

On a more serious note, her O2 saturation dropped to the 60s for quite a stretch in the night. In 2 weeks' time, we will be able to know if she has Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Central Sleep Apnea, or a combination of both. The sleep doctor will also recommend if she needs any Oxygen help via a mask when she sleeps.

They sell Oxygen shots at some clubs in Singapore. Maybe I'll get the chance to try at home!

Even with all the sensors taped to her head, she's a peaceful little angel when she's sleeping. Hope everything will turn out good.
My friend just told me there is a supplement for people who lack oxygen. I've got to get the name from her.

Well done Vera!

Oh how this all sounds way too familar. What a sweet baby just sleeping through the procedure. They hooked Annabel while awake but she did great and when told she could go to sleep went right to sleep.
Does she have a pulxe ox or what is called an oximeter. It measures her oxygen saturation levels and also her heart rate. We got ours from our medical suppply company. The brand is Tru Sats oximeter. Annabel wears hers when she sleeps.
For some reason they didn't want Annabel to sleeep with oxygen long term, but put her on CPAP. When in the hospital this past week for other things, they found they still had to add oxygen to CPAP (5 liters at times) and that she needed to be on BiPap.
Please keep us posted. I also referred a family from Florida to your site. Their little girl is 1 mth. old and they are not getting much help with information. They are reaching out to other families. I hope you didn't mind.
