March Madness

March is the month of upheaval.

Vera had her surgery. Daddy spent nights at the hospital. Mommy had to run in and out of the office (way too much). My maid had to be sent back to the Philippines (just when we needed the most help!). We have to adjust to g button feeding and maintenance (what a hassle compared to ng tube feeding). Vera has strange reactions to the surgery (poops uncontrollably until her bum’s all rashed up, tummy extra bloated). Vera had ‘hospital trauma’ (cries a howling cry when we touch her and now doesn’t like her mouth to be touched like before). I fell very sick with high fever and a hacking cough (too sick to walk, too sick to blog). I passed it on to Vera. Vera is sick now. Ian is fully stretched looking after her. Ian is going back to work next week. I’ve quit my job (and it’s a recession). We missed her monthly celebration.

I’m glad March is nearly over.

I am so sorry to hear about the challenges and changes. I hope that these problems pass soon. Maybe the g-tube is more challenging just until you get used to it and until it heals.

I hope that April brings many nice things for our family.

hi May,

is Vera on Augmentin (antibiotics) post-surgery? the uncontrollable diarrhoea could be due to the side effects of Augmentin.

My son went thru' a major surgery with Dr Vincent Yeow (KKH) and went thru' a similar phase.. ie. horrendous diarrhoea and post-surgery trauma as well... what I did for the red bums was to apply thick layer of desitin at the entire bum area at every diaper change, dis will help to prevent direct contact of the 'acidic' poo wif the delicate skin.. hope this works well with Vera as well..

You guys have done a great job... Hang on and things will get better from here... :)

Warmest regards,
Joanne

I am hoping and praying for a great and wonderful April for you, Ian and Vera. So sorry about your job. Will Vera return to school?
Annabel doesn't get a raw bottom very often but when she was very young a had a blistering bottom this was prescribed to her. It is called Cholestyramine 10% Ointment.
It has to be compounded at a special pharmacy. Praying for her to become more comfortable.
