Stronger

Ever since the start of using BiPAP, we've seen visible improvement in Vera's strength.

She's not as easily tired out by physical exertion. Her arms seem to be stronger - she tries to use them to support herself.

We're also beginning to see a comeback of the "head raising" from earlier days. Just for 1 or 2 seconds as part of her rolling routine, but all on her own. It's exciting to see this regaining of strength - at the end of 2009, it seemed like she just didn't want to do any physio exercises.

Hopefully she continues improving.

Ok, I came by for my Vera fix and got it! Thank you for posting. Seeing her standing, I looked at her precious feet and they reminded me of Annabel's. We just had 3rd sleep study Sunday night and we are starting back with c-pap. she fell asleep ok but woke a few hours later with it on her nose and she couldn;t breathe. the at 5 a.m. she had it on her chin and when she woke at 7 a.m. she had dried blood. I think she scratched herself getting the mask off her face. I have to secure it tightly. I am going to pray that she can adjust well like Vera. Actually, you inspired me to stick with it saying Vera seems stronger. I know they need it. Tell Ian thanks for the pictures with Vera and praying for a safe, good delivery May!

Somehow I started a message and lost it. Well, the biggest part of what I had written was that I love, love seeing her standing so strong. What a great benefit that is coming from persevering with the hard work of getting her used to the mask and machine. Who knew there would be such immediate gains?

Cathy:
we continue to deal with the shifting of the mask when she sleeps. Every few hours someone still has to get up to readjust it when it covers her noses or goes lopsided. yes we do have to secure it tight to minimize shifting.

Connie:
she's still wobbly on those feet, and her head still tilts backwards while standing - I just caught the split second where she holds it upright!

Aunty L:
thanks for all the encouragement!
