With all that's been happening with Vera, I find myself 'suddenly' at full-term (36 weeks). Meaning that in the coming weeks, I could give birth any time.
Vera's birth via elective C-section was nothing less than a traumatic experience. Contrary to what many believe - that once you have a C-section, subsequent births have to be as well - I am preparing for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean).
In many ways, it is like a first birth for us. I never got to see Vera fresh out of my womb. I never got the chance to breastfeed her. Daddy never got to 'cut the cord'. We've never experienced the initial joy and adrenalin rush of birth.
We hope that this time we will be able to go through what nature intended.
All I ask for is that Vera stays well till the birth (and after of course!)

If there's any consolation, I had 3 C-section births. My first born, Sarah, was born via an emergency caesarean due to fetal distress. Like you, I was preparing for a VBAC for Dylan, my No.2. Unfortunately, I developed a fever which never got to subside during the 24 hours in the labour ward. So, it was off to the OT for yet another emergency C-sect. Needless to say, after 2 C-section, I no longer have an option for VBAC. Lauren was born via elective C-sect at 38 weeks.
Mike had the chance to be with me for Lauren's birth. He didn't get to cut the cord, but he heard the cries of the baby and had the chance to see the Lauren fresh out of the womb. The midwife brought Lauren to me quite immediately, putting Lauren's cheek next to mine. Her cheek was warm, and she looked amazing. To us, it was already a wonderful experience.
No matter which birth experience you have, it will surely be a great one. If we don't get to meet you and family before you pop, Mike and I wish you a safe and joyful birth. Jia you! :)

i heard about paul tseng and that he's very pro vbac. how's your experience with him?
do blog about your birth experience and i'm sure many mummies will be encouraged by your vbac experience! i have a colleague who had a successful vbac for her 2nd child and she encouraged me to go for that.
