Reaching yet another end of the year for Vera at 17 years old. Thankful that 2025 has been a year of relative calm, even with caregiver going on one month home leave.
2025 saw 1 hospital stay - in March 2025 - which is our usual average. Due to an already loosened fundoplication, milk is going back up her oesophagus, and causing micro aspiration. She came home with a continuous feeding bag and we stopped bolus feeds altogether via the syringe.
So far, we've noticed better management of secretions as a result. It helps that Vera has a good cough reflex still, and is able to cough out when it builds up.
Other than this, she's as happy as she always has been. Sleeping lots and putting on the pounds steadily.
A relief that 2025 was a "regular" hospital stay year!
