Forever Young

Vera has an immense effect on my 88-year-old grandma.

Somehow, she makes her younger. When granny cajoles her, she sounds like a little girl with a high-pitched voice. She gets down on all fours to play with Vera on her mat. She smiles a lot too.

I sometimes wonder who will outlive the other. It's just a fleeting thought. Both of them, so precious to me, to be treasured more, for time is not on their side.

Thank you for creating this blog about your daughter. Your blog has given me hope for my little girl. When I was 15 weeks pregnant I found out that she has trisomy 18. The news was so grim that I thought she would die soon after and here I am 32 weeks pregnant with her actively kicking me all the time. I am praying that she will be born alive and I will get a chance to bring her home from the hospital.

Hi Christeen, thanks for dropping by. The past few months must have been really hard on you. Kudos for staying the course with your little girl. Believe me she knows you're encouraging her so she kicks you! I used hypno techniques in the final months to calm my mind (to avoid early labour), and kept repeating over and over 'My baby will be well' a hundred times a day! Hold on fellow tri18 mummy!

Hi May. I loved this post today. I wish my mom and grandma were still here. They'd love Mallorie like yours loves Vera. She is a lucky girl.

PS - my grandma lived till 99 yrs old. She was so loving, and if you put a baby anywhere near her, she'd change her voice, start cooing and talking to the baby, and for hours after the baby was not around her, she'd be humming. I bet your grandma will be around at least that long. She reminds me of mine!

I love your last two post! I love that your grandmother gets down on her hand and knees to play with Vera.
Vera's little feet in the sand remind me of Annabels. Thank you for your continued writings.

Vera and her great grandma are so precious together! Love that they are on the floor playing together!

I check in regularly, and I loved this multi-generational post. Dear to my heart, to see life across decades... Makes me think of my kiddos and my own grandma.
